A small amount of water added to the mortar gives a great consistency for laying miniature bricks. Take it slowly and a very realistic finish can be achieved.

There are 2 ways to apply the mortar mix –
1. Mix a small amount of water and a teaspoon of mortar mix to obtain a smooth paste like mixture. Apply using a traditional brick laying technique.
2. Glue your bricks together using PVA glue and leave spaces, for the mortar joints. Next, seal the bricks using a mixture of PVA glue and water. Then mix a small amount of water and a teaspoon of mortar mix to obtain a smooth paste like mixture. This can then be used like a grout to fill in the mortar joints on your model. Sealing the bricks beforehand stops the mortar mix from staining the bricks.
