I find these carpets have very sticky backs under the brown paper and that its a bit of a job to lay the carpet smoothly with out getting ripples in it. I now trim the under outer edge of the brown paper backing a little, as it tends to show if its at the front edge of the floor. Then I use the small amount left of the sticky bit of the carpet and lay the outer edge on the floor, pressing in down onto the floor. A small bit is easy to handle. But I leave the rest of the brown paper on. I then spread a fine layer of glue over the floor of the room, then I gently lay the carpet onto the floor, smoothing the carpet over the floor and into the corners. This way I don't get any ripples in the carpet, and its easy to get it nice and smooth without fighting the very sticky backing that it comes with. You can move the carpet around slightly with putting the glue on the floor.
I then put the skirting in place. I have found it easier to do that way around

I had hoped to use this in my front garden, however it is lime green and not at all passable as the colour of lawn.
